In recent years a wave of counterfeit prescription drugs has swept the Swedish market. Many of these drugs are ordered via the Internet, by people who believe they are perfectly legitimate, cheaper alternatives to approved prescription drugs. A large percentage of these so-called drugs are useless placeboes. Even worse, some are actually poison. The Swedish Drug Administration decided to spread the word.
Crime Medicine, an online campaign produced by Perfect Fools for Granath Euro RSCG, builds on an interactive documentary format to educate the Swedish public about this new danger. The campaign has been hugely successful among its target audience with more than 400,000 unique visitors (nearly 5% of the Swedish population) and 3.3 years of video viewed in its first month online.
